Turkeys rule in America

Turkey awaits ThanksgivingMore than eight months after “15 days to flatten the curve,” our so-called medical experts, politicos, and pundits are bidding us to avoid our family at all costs over the holidays, lest we die. This Thanksgiving week, family separation is the name of the game, with governors and local authorities implementing onerous restrictions to discourage people from leaving their homes.

“If you are planning to spend Thanksgiving with people outside your household, we urge you to reconsider,” wrote a group of governors in the pages of the Washington Post. These authors included little tyrants such as Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, whose lockdown orders arbitrarily outlawed the sale of gardening seeds while allowing patrons to purchase lottery tickets, Gov. Andy Beshear, who ordered that Kentucky police record church attendees’ license plate numbers at Easter services as “the only way we can ensure that your decision doesn’t kill someone else,” and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, whose family violated his own lockdown orders on more than one occasion to travel to their second home in Florida.

Meanwhile, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D as Dastardly) has canceled Thanksgiving plans with his 89-year-old mother and two of his daughters after facing backlash following his pleas for New Yorkers to limit their holiday plans and “stay away” from their loved ones. His mother should be happy that he’s not dumping her in a coronavirus-infected nursing home.

In Oregon, Gov. Kate Brown is getting her own share of backlash for saying people should call the police on other people who violate the state’s coronavirus restrictions on Thanksgiving.

“This is a travesty that’s happening in our state,” said Tootie Smith, chair of Clackamas County in reaction to Brown’s anti-gathering ordinance announced on Nov. 17. “How dare Governor Brown think she’s going to come out, she’s going to send police into people’s homes and arrest them and fine them for having a Thanksgiving meal with their family, while at (the) same time she lets rioters and looters destroy downtown in the city of Portland. That’s hypocrisy.”

“We don’t need to be treated as scond-rate slaves in our own homes,” she added.

Brown’s restrictions forbid gatherings of more than six people inside one home. Violators could face fines of up to $1,250 and possible jail time, according to the Daily Wire.
